Most audiobooks are a printed book performed after the fact. The words were built for a page, and a narrator was hired once the writing was finished.

We work the other way around. A title in this imprint is written for the ear from the first draft and narrated by the person it happened to. If an author cannot read it themselves, we do not publish it.

The list will grow slowly, one book at a time, each carrying something the author could not have handed to anyone else to say.

You have survived things that would have taken other people apart. You built after that. You grew. And your own life still asks more of you than it seems to ask of anyone else.

The successes cost more than they should. Small decisions carry weight. Sleep does not repair anything. From the outside it reads as someone who has arrived.

Survival does not switch off when the emergency ends. It stays on underneath, running your relationships and your creativity and your choices, and because it has always been there you do not experience it as separate from yourself.

I lived in that for decades while running companies and coaching executives, and I took it for what capacity costs. What I found underneath was survival still running, long after the thing I survived had ended. It had moved into ordinary days and taken over decisions that had nothing to do with danger.

This audiobook is about the mechanics of that. How survival holds itself in place, what it costs you in the ordinary hours, and how people come out of it.

What changes afterward is quieter than you would expect. Things get easier. You walk into a room without first doing the work of walking into a room. Ideas arrive whole. You stop needing to be ready before you begin.
